A. Yes, we do buy close-out stock when a deal can be made regarding the value of the products offered.
Q. Are all factory parts 100% likely to fit?
A. No, there is a 90% chance that adjustments must be made to fit the part correctly.
Q. What is a serial number?
A. The serial number identifies the watch grade, size and model.
Q. What is the name on the watch?
A. This identifies the maker of the watch.
Q. What parts do we sell?
A. We sell parts for all makes of American aircraft, wrist and pocket
watches made in the USA.
Q. What is the number system which we use?
A. We use a combination of the abbreviated factory name and the factory
part number. Example, ELG#2555 is Elgin factory part number 2555. The same applies for each manufacture.
Q. Are all parts available?
A. No, some parts are obsolete, no longer available.
Q. How do you order parts?
A. The best way to order parts is by factory name, serial number and correct part name. If available give the part factory number.
Q. What books do we use?
A. We use a combination of factory parts books and the E & J Swigart book. The E & J Swigart book contains most factories. Elgin, Hamilton, Illinois and Waltham. Also has sections on mainsprings, stems and other specific parts. The book goes back to 1883 models. We sell this book for $24.95 plus postage. It is the most helpful book in print for the viewing and identification of the factory parts and numbers. If you do not have it it is the most useful book for your bench. It will speed up part selection and eliminate the possibility of ordering the wrong part. It also helps you identify the correct part names.
Q. Can you have dials made?
A. We can have dials made for almost any model. We have patterns for most dials though we need samples at times to match feet and style patterns.
Q. Are the dials single or double sunk?
A. Some stock dials are flat plate. We are changing to single sunk for our stock dials and adding double sunk dials in small quantities. We will stock the most popular styles.
Q. Do you stock crystals?
A. Yes however, we are adding crystals as we get requests for sizes and styles.
Q. Do you stock glass crystals?
A. We can get most glass crystals only at a higher price.
Q. Can we get other parts?
A. Yes, we have sources for some obsolete parts. However, it will take longer to get these parts.
Q. Will you add more items?
A. We will add items based on request and relativity to the pocket watch trade.
Q. Do we sell tools?
A. We do have sources for tools and other watch repair material however, it is special ordered and requires a pre payment prior to order. Certain items will be added based on volume of request.
